2020 Dodge Challenger GT

More grand tourer than sports car, the Dodge Challenger is an unapologetically brash two-door coupe in the grand tradition of American muscle. Revived in 2008 as a direct successor to the 1970-1974 first generation model, the Challenger soldiers on today in its 12th year of production. But how to improve on the basic formula? More horsepower, of course. There are no fewer than four V-8 options available for the 2020 Dodge Challenger, starting with the 375-hp 5.7-liter Hemi and topping out with the 797-hp SRT Hellcat Redeye, and all feature a standard six-speed manual transmission. Dodge balances out this bold swagger with a dash of sensibility: V-6-powered Challengers offer available all-wheel drive. Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks? Dodge Challenger SXT and GT models feature a 3.6-liter V-6 making 305 hp and 264 lb-ft mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard with fuel economy numbers of 19/30 mpg city/highway. With optional all-wheel drive the numbers drop to 18/27 mpg. Challenger R/T versions feature a 5.7-liter V-8 with 375 hp paired to a six-speed manual transmission or optional eight-speed transmission driving the rear wheels. Fuel economy is 15/23 mpg with the manual and 16/25 in the automatic. Challenger R/T Scat Pack models feature a 6.4-liter V-8 with 485 hp and 475 lb-ft mated to a six-speed manual transmission, returning 14/23. The Challenger SRT Hellcat makes 707 hp and 650 lb-ft, and delivers 13/22 mpg with the eight-speed automatic, and 13/21 with the six-speed manual. Finally, the SRT Hellcat Redeye puts out 797 hp and 707 lb-ft. The Dodge Challenger comes standard with a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system and includes SiriusXM satellite radio, Bluetooth, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity. Two USB ports and a six-speaker audio system are also standard. An 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system is optional on the SXT, GT, and R/T and standard on all other trims, with satellite navigation optional across the entire lineup. The six-speaker system can be upgraded to an 9-speaker audio system or an 18-speaker Harman Kardon audio system.
